William the Cheesemonger
1785 to 188?

William (D69), born 1785, was the youngest son of William D58(7) of Inglesham. Like all his three brothers (links above) he moved from Wiltshire to London at the start of the 19th century. He married Charlotte LAWRENCE in 1813 at St George Hanover Square.

All four of their children are born at Pinner, where the baptism records identify him simply as a servant.  The closeness of Pinner to Greenhill at Harrow, just two and a half miles, can be seen in the map alongside.

In 1837, in Lambeth, Margaret marries her cousin William Morris Brush (1812), the son of her uncle Thomas and Amey.  The witness was Samuel Brush.  Possibly Samuel of Harrow, also an uncle, or her cousin Samuel the letter sorter.

By 1838 William has moved to Chelsea and is a cheesmonger at 1 Strewan Place. He is there still at 1841.

In 1847 William(1819) - marries Frances Fox???? at .

William the cheesemonger's death is recorded age 65 in Q4 1850, and he is buried at Brompton cemetary on July.

At the 1851 census his widow Charlotte is listed as head of the family and the scope of the business has widened. She is listed as a grocer.

By the 1861 census Charlotte, then , has moved to Battersea to live with son William and his family are in Battersea. One of the children is Henry(1852). In 1871 he enlists inthe Royal Artillery
